Tavi Parusel is an independent filmmaker who is passionate about creating films that inspire and move people. Tavi’s work has taken him around the world, from a mission to document the Kumbha Mela festival in India, to the bottom of the sea on Canada’s Pacific coast in search of threatened deep sea corals, to a 900km trek along the ancient Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in northwestern Spain. Most recently, Tavi journeyed deep into the Himalayan Mountains to document a sacred valley called Tsum.
Tavi has directed numerous films, including award-winning documentary, Fearless, about a journey from the North Pole to South Pole to elevate a global awareness around our most pressing environmental issues (Best Inspirational Documentary, New York Independent Film Festival). Produced with the Living Oceans Society, his short documentary, Finding Coral, about important research on deep sea corals, was an official selection at environmental film festivals internationally. Tavi’s most recent documentary, The Pilgrimage, was awarded Best Short Documentary at Winnipeg Film Festival and continues to screen internationally.
Ani dreams of living in a world with a steady stream of sunshine, mandatory nap times, well executed puns and a next-level soundtrack in the background at all times. A recent graduate from the University of British Columbia, she’s been lucky enough to study under some great minds who have fueled her passion for literature, good punctuation and clever references, whilst encouraging her deep thirst for knowledge.
A lover of travel, Ani has split her time between furthering her career and education in Vancouver and travelling to far off destinations such as South and Central America, Southeast Asia and Europe.
When she is not busy writing, you can be sure to find her searching for new adventures, eating chocolate, soaking up the sun, or painting.
This website serves as an experiment in artistry, memory and adventure: an attempt to freeze the spirit of travel in time and spit it back out onto a webpage to be consumed and inspire. She hopes this will prove more successful than a twice written in never reread travel journal. If nothing else, she feels this venture will be a moderately more interesting way for friends and family to keep up with our travels than passively perusing facebook.
